The Colombian gaming authority, Coljuegos, has partnered with the Chocó department administration to tackle unlawful wagering. This collaboration, within a larger initiative by Coljuegos, seeks to dismantle criminal syndicates financed by illicit betting and strengthen the legitimate gaming sector. This action follows comparable accords Coljuegos formed with the Tolima, Huila, and Sucre departments previously in 2024.

“The societal requirements in Chocó are urgent,” declared Marco Emilio Hincapié, head of Coljuegos. “Therefore, we are dedicated to combating lawlessness and guaranteeing that funds for healthcare reach those most in need. We are cognizant of the existence of illegal gaming in Chocó. The San Juan municipality is being affected by ‘Kino Lottery,’ an unsanctioned game that we are striving to regulate. We have also detected the extensive functioning of raffles without permission and in breach of the law.”

Governor Nubia Carolina Córdoba remarked, “This presents a chance for us to collaborate against illicit activities and dishonesty, ensuring that proceeds from games of fortune benefit the populace that requires it most.”

This accord represents a substantial stride toward regulatory approval, setting the stage for gaming to emerge as a potent force for positive change in Chocó. We are discussing a considerable revenue stream for healthcare, a critical need in this area.”

Fernandez, acting as legal counsel for Western Service Network, highlighted the concrete effects. “From January onward, our average monthly earnings from regulated gaming have been approximately $10 million, all of which is directly allocated to healthcare. This is generating a tangible impact.”

He continued, “Furthermore, we furnish livelihoods for nearly 1,500 individuals in Chocó, encompassing both our permanent staff and independent workers. The prosperity of our enterprise translates into economic prospects across the region.”
